Once you give your life to Jesus, life is smooth sailing and glorious!
I almost feel bad for choosing the title for this blog entry. It is definitely misleading, and the answer is a hard yes and no.
This subject has caught me off guard (actually unread Biblically) multiple times in my life. I always expected life to magically become easier when I genuinely and truly gave my life to Jesus. Even today, I find myself thinking how much easier it was to be completely miserable, depressed and anxious. At least I had some vices to get completely LOST in. No pun intended. That is exactly how I ended up after each attempt to "get things right". Maybe a little worse off as time grinded on.
Everything changed! I finally surrendered or gave up, (take your pick) you can read my testimony HERE At this point I understood what repentance meant and I had gotten over the shell shock of how much of my life was in spiritual shambles. I identified the blatant areas of my life which went against the Word of God and The Helper (The Holy Spirit) began to reveal areas of my life that had become entrenched with sinful behaviors and with the help of The Holy Spirit (The Helper), I got past those speed bumps and started experiencing periods of time that must be explained as THE peace which surpasses all understanding which is mentioned in Philippians 4:6-7.

Operating by the right campfire
I had a former Pastor preach a sermon that will forever stick with me. In this sermon, he brought up a campfire. Any solo thru hiker with worn out hiking boots knows how important a good campfire is to the success of an experience so effected by the elements. During the winter, fire can be crucial.
Have you ever done something with the best intentions, the most careful planning and perfect execution of those plans. You were sure God approved. How could he not? These plans are perfect!
Often those plans not only fail, but they could result in emotional chaos. I have learned to ask myself if I have asked God if these plans are what he desires. For me, it has made life easier. I am a real sucker for a good campfire and have become very conscience of who starts my campfires.

Choices
Does life feel like a meat grinder to anyone else? I have neglected this website for a handful of reasons, none of those reasons carry any weight in the big picture.
I am praying on how God wants me to use my talents, interests and personality to serve and please Him every day. If you happen to see this post, will you please say a prayer for me that God's voice will be clear.
